Samsung Beats Google in the Race for World’s Best Brand

Samsung Electronics is one of the South Korean tech giants. And if you believe the result of a recent survey conducted by YouGov, a British market research firm, Samsung has overtaken Google to become the best brand in the world. So, in the global ranking of brands for the current year, Samsung scored as much as 127 points, while Google has only 106 points. And YouTube scored only 85 points.

The top 10 also includes such famous companies as Netflix, e-commerce powerhouse Shopee, instant messaging service WhatsApp, carmaker Toyota, household product brand Colgate, automaker Mercedes-Benz, and discount chain Lidl. Thus, in view of the highest competition, even just getting into the top 10 is quite an achievement. And even the famous brands Adidas and Nike did not succeed.

When compiling this rating, YouGov used a number of criteria, among which were the assessment of the brand by their reputation across 38 markets, pricing policy, quality of goods and services, customer feedback, and consumer satisfaction. It turned out that Samsung leads the charts in the markets of Ireland, Vietnam, the Netherlands, and South Korea. The brand also ranked sixth in the US, fifth in France, and second in the United Kingdom. And to summarize, Samsung is in the top ten in half of the existing markets.

Success for Seoul-based Samsung did not come immediately. The company gradually grew in its value in the ranking. So, it took 4th place in 2020 and in 2019, second in 2021, in order to finally become the best in 2022. This month, Samsung was already in the top 5 according to global consultancy Interbrand, but lost to Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple.

What has been the key to the success of the Samsung brand? Will the company be able to keep its leadership next year? Please share your opinion below.
