Strauss Zelnick, the chief at Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar Games, recently told investors during an earnings discussion that "The Grand Theft Auto series has surpassed our projections, and excitement is mounting as we approach the Grand Theft Auto VI release in the autumn of 2025," dispelling any rumors about potential delays in the highly anticipated game's creation.
The development team has confirmed that the next installment, GTA VI, will be released in fall 2025 on the latest gaming platforms from Sony and Microsoft: the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, respectively.
Yet, Zelnick, in a dialogue with GamesIndustry.Biz, intimated that the company may avoid integrating GTA VI into the Xbox Game Pass lineup, even though some of its other titles have been accessible through various membership-based platforms.
Zelnick noted, "For us, that approach doesn't seem logical because from a financial standpoint, it our view that consumers aren't yet ready to invest in such an offering," while he did acknowledge that including heavy-hitters like Call of Duty can indeed motivate a surge in subscribers.
It's anticipated that GTA VI might rank among the most costly video games ever crafted, with reports indicating the studio has invested over a billion dollars in its production. The game's development did experience an interruption due to a significant security breach orchestrated by a teenager.
The initial teaser trailer for GTA VI received an enthusiastic reception for its advanced graphics and narrative depth. The game is expected to hit the shelves with a premium price tag relative to other games on the market, and plans are in place to eventually adapt it for PC gamers.
